What I sewed this week- April 24-28

(This post contains no pictures because I'm the worst and didn't take pictures of anything.) At the end of last year, my mom sent me a link on pinterest for a sewing log. It was basically a way of keeping track of what you have sewed and when and all that. I thought it was a cool idea and good for referencing back if you ever need to make something again. The link she sent me was a paper version, but I think I'm going to keep track here (Lord knows I need less paper clutter in my house right now, although I might put my favorites on paper). This week I finished working on a couple of bed skirts for someone else. They're for kids' rooms and I think they're super cute. The kids got new bedding, but of course kids bedding doesn't come with bed skirts. So they just bought an extra set of sheets and I made the skirts out of the flat sheet. (For the record, they were flamingo and shark sheets from the Pillowfort range at Target.) I think I'm official...

Over the past year, I have enjoyed making cute little things for my baby niece. Before she was born, I had made her a pair of ruby slippers and since then she's received some headbands, dresses, more shoes, and I've even made her parents some canopies to go over their carseats. And I've loved it. Baby things are so fun to make. They all just turn out so cute. Since I've enjoyed making her things so much, I decided to expand and offer my products to everyone. I had been itching to start an Etsy shop for years, I just never could figure out what I wanted to make and sell. But now we're open for business! Currently, I have a little variety of baby footwear in the shop, as well as a couple of burp rag options. In the coming weeks and months, I hope to add a few new shoe styles and possibly some clothing items. Finding time to create.

As I sit here with 3 Tums sitting at the ready on my keyboard, I want to talk about finding the time for art and to create. This past weekend, I got the urge to start making some artwork for baby's nursery. In the past, I would come up with ideas, write them down, and then move on to do other things. But Saturday I decided to just jump into it. And it felt great. I spend most of my time in my room sewing on things for other people. Alterations, shop inventory, the like. It had been a really long time since I had busted out some art supplies and created something on paper. Hopefully with this little one coming along and a new room to decorate, I will be sitting down with paints and paper more often.
